Capris and Me

After two weeks of the beautiful Roma, I decided it was time to go to the sea. I was more than ecstatic to dip my toes in the Mediterranean. I grabbed my girls and booked us an Airbnb in Amalfi. We took a scenic train ride and arrived in a small town called Vietri Sul Mare. We sat and waited over an hour for a taxi but found a small bar to wait at.

7 hours of traveling later..we arrived in Amalfi. Amalfi is known for being a cultivator of lemons, which are grown in terraced gardens along the entire coast. Our taxi driver dropped us off at the town center and we messaged our Airbnb man to get the directions to our weekend home. He said he would send his son down to get us from a restaurant that he gave us the name to. We showed up to the restaurant sweaty and parched. I know we looked like a group of confused Americans because..we were! To our surprise a sweet older man showed up our of no where and pulled chairs out for us and started to pop a bottle of "complementary" bubbly. We told me him we didn't order this but he said it was a gift because he was a gentleman. What a sweet man he was.

The son showed up soon after leading us to our airbnb. It was tucked behind a beautiful church in the city center. It was the perfect get away. I threw my bags down and ran to the sea. As an avid sea shell collector I was confused to find no shells, but rocks! This beach was full of rocks and all different colors of sea glass. I spent a couple of hours walking and collecting these gifts from the sea.
The next morning I boarded the ferry to Capris, an island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

I've always said that the sun was my favorite thing in the world. It gives me so much and on even the worst of days it reminds me that it will be there again tomorrow waiting for me. I was feeling euphoric on this day. The sun was giving me so much. I road the cutest convertible taxi to the top of capris town to window shop at the luxury shops. I ate, I swam, and I smiled. Capris is the closest thing to my heaven.

When the day was came to an end, we boarded the ferry to head back to Amalfi. My friend Alexis and I wanted to sit at the front of the boat for the best view. I sat next to a younger boy and his mother. She began speaking french to me and I showed confusion on my face. She laughed and said "you don't speak french?". I started to chit chat with her and discovered her name was Gretta and her family was from lebanon. She was an interior designer on family vacation. She was so beautiful I couldn't help but stare at her. To my surprise she told me that she thought I was beautiful and she wished she had my hair color. We giggled and agreed that no one is happy with what they have. We discussed how we ended up in the creative career path and exchanged social media accounts. I will always remember Gretta and our hour together on the ferry. She gave me the comforting mother qualities that I was missing.
Capris I will miss you.
Ciao for now.
