Running to the Mediterranean Sea

On our first free Friday, some friends and I decided it was too hot to bare the sun any longer without being close to a body of water. We embarked on a short journey to Fregene beach, but after talking with a police officer in the metro, he changed our destination. He told us that Ostia was much prettier. The train ride wasn't too long, but I am sure we were the only people who spoke english. We followed the mass of people dressed in their swim suits and carrying umbrellas to find the beach. This was the first time I had no idea where I was going, but I was okay with it because I knew I had a cool ocean waiting for me. We arrived and rented an umbrella and chair to reserve a spot on the sand. After sipping on a fresh Piña Colada, Mandy and I went on a walk. We people watched while ankle deep in the sea. every three feet we stopped to pick up stones ( yes stones there were very few shells) and sea glass. Never in my life have I seen so much sea glass, but now I have a hefty collection. The other girls back at our reserved spot were napping when we got back from our walk and we decided to get lunch on a terrace overlooking the beach. After our lunch we finished our relaxing day at the sea and headed back home (and by home I mean our apartment in Prati).
